We trained so intensely and spent such an immense time together over just 14 days. I talked with AFIT and I even read up on the Bios for the instructors. My instructor Paul helped me understand the concepts easily, always making himself available whenever I had questions after class. Todd is a very personable guy, and so easy to get along with. I came to AFIT after struggling through the typical schedule with a flight instructor at a school scenario. Apart from passing my check ride, I also appreciated the emphasis on inculcating good safety habits, and being systematic about getting and staying ahead of the airplane. Although I have been flying in the Bay Area for the last one year, I have not yet solved. I would highly, highly recommend Michael for anyone looking for a great education, a great friend, and a great flight instructor! It was a very intensive 12 days and Bill had to run a very tight program to get in the 2 written tests and the medical examination. Having a dedicated aircraft and instructor is a huge factor. It felt like we did it for 10 hours and at the end I have never been so mentally and physically exhausted. He took me to every conceivable restaurant specializing in different variations of Texas cuisine and no sooner had you tasted the first mouthful out came the next briefing, the inevitable pink cards or the practical test standards /oral guides. I wanted to write to you and let you know about my experience at Van Nuys with Annelie and Alex these past 10 days. His knowledge, experience and patience made me gain the confidence I needed to learn how to fly and pass the test. While that was further than I originally anticipated travelling for my PPL, after my conversations and emails with you, I trusted you knew exactly what I was looking for and with whom I should learn. Johns approach to ground training always felt more like a conversation with a trusted friend than a formal class, and his extraordinary depth of knowledge in all facets of aviation meant that there was seldom a question to which he didnt have the answer. That was absolutely unexpected and a testament to Michaels ability as an instructor to continually get the best out of me and tailoring everything to maximize my time in SoCal. Ruben made possible what I thought was impossible to achieve. I was tired of learning to fly one or two hours a week from instructors who simply wanted to build time and apply to the airlines.
